Would Dredd (2012) have done better if it came out today?

2012’s Dredd with Karl Urban is a great movie and one can argue it’s one of the best action movies of the 2010s. Unfortunately, despite a warm reception, Dredd did not do well at the box office and talks of a sequel have stalled.

But was Dredd a victim of bad timing? Sure we can point to the poor marketing as well, but with the success of franchises like John Wick and the current state of social media right now compared to 2012, would Dredd done better in 2021 (sans the pandemic) compared to 2012? I feel like the word would have spread better now compared to then on how good the movie was.
