Punisher: Warzone is a pretty wild action movie. Disgusting, but weirdly beautiful.

Finally checked it out after hearing it on "How did this get Made" podcast where they had Patton Oswalt and Punisher: Warzone Director Lexi Alexander talk about the making of the movie in depth.

Yeah, the movie lives up to the podcasts description of how unconventional it's presentation is. It's so violent, that even the sound effects are kind of disgusting when there's a kill on screen. The way it's structured with the beginning feeling like the end of the 1st origin movie, making the movie feel like a efficient sequel that is close to a glorious 90 minutes run time. The color pallet of blending colors of yellow, blue, red, and green that make up every frame of the movie. Makes me wish more modern comic book movies took some cues in playing around with color composition.

The story itself isn't special, it gets down to the point of The Punisher killing bad guys with violent rage while the dark humor and bizarre cast of characters play out to the logic of what a teenager thinks goes down in a violent gang world (the irish gang framed with a clover above them while a green light shines over them made me laugh so hard). It's probably style over substance, but what style it is. Sort of reminds me of Batman Returns in how bizarre the presentation that you're ok how it's playing out.

My favorite kill is parkour meth gang (yes it's as cool and as dumb as it sounds) jumping between buildings and then the Punisher shoots one of them midair with an RPG.
