can't believe Atlantis: The Lost Empire was a critical and commercial failure

only 49% on Rotten Tomatoes and 186m worldwide on a 120m budget (not including marketing)? Can't believe it. This is a terrific sci fi animated adventure movie. With memorable characters, great voice work, beautiful animation, terrific music, great action, etc. I don't know why the critics were so hard on it and why audiences didn't go to see it. Then again, in terms of audiences, sci fi animated movies are tough sell. Other sci fi animated movies like The Iron Giant, Titan AE, and Treasure Planet also all bombed.
