Movies that deviated from source material for the better?

Which movie made significant (or noteworthy) changes from the original source material (books, graphic novels, etc) that turned out to be great decisions?

For me, it's Jurassic Park. The novel had Malcom dying, which I'm glad they changed, and Lex was extremely annoying in the book. Liked her in the first) movie.
