The first 45-50 mins of Full Metal Jacket (1987) is Kubrick’s finest work.

The first part of the movie through their boot camp training, as we slowly watch Gomer Pyle mentally disintegrate into psychosis due to the traumatic effects of war and abuse.

The latter part of the film is too disjointed for me, but the training camp part is officially my favorite Kubrick work. What’s yours?
