In what movie was a certain character portrayed as the “bad guy” or antagonist, but they were really not that bad?

I was rewatching School of Rock, and as much as I love Jack Black. I have to say the amount of people that were opposed to him were actually kinda justified, despite how he was the protagonist and we're following his lead and feeling sorry for him that he struggles in fulfilling his dreams. He is very irresponsible and careless when it comes to how his actions affect other people.

For example, his best friend; Ned allows him to live in his apartment rent free and takes advantage over the fact he can’t stand up to him in contributing to their unit and doesn’t consider Ned’s needs.

But the real character that’s portrayed as the “antagonist” is Ned’s girlfriend! She actually tries to get Ned to have the courage to tell Dewey he can’t keep paying his share, and just wants him to stop letting him push him around. She really wasn't that much of a "nightmare" like Dewey insisted she was, he just couldn't stand the fact that she fearlessly calls him out for not being a grown up and can't accept the reality of his situation. She was quite supportive of Ned, that she put up with Dewey for him, until by the end of the movie Ned chose to support Dewey instead despite how she stood up for him after Dewey almost jeopardizes Ned's career and tried to help him in taking charge better.

Also I think the parents also had every right to be angry and unimpressed with how the school just let Dewey (disguising himself as Ned) work at the school, without doing a proper background check on him and immediately took his word on the phone that he was in fact Ned. I know it’s just a movie, but realistically I would think they still would’ve went through some sort of process before granting him the job.
