Movies disliked by their own director but are actually good.

There’s some famous ones, like American History X, but the list of movies where the director has been openly negative towards is mostly bad (e.g. Fantastic Four) … and maybe some on the edge like Lynch’s Dune.

I’m sure for fear of never working in Hollywood again, most director’s will not share their negative opinions. There must be a laundry list of good/great films in which the director didn’t really like it - whether it was studio intervention, lack of budget or conflict with actors.

What are some good movies that fall into this category?
