Thomas Jane is promoting a petition on his Instagram account that's calling for Warner Bros to release the original ending of Deep Blue Sea.

For those who aren't aware, in the original ending, Susan survives and kills the big shark. However, there were test audience members who were pissed and wanted to see her get devoured because it was her research that backfired and caused all the chaos, even though it wasn't deliberate and unlike the arrogant/impenitent sociopathic scientist in Deep Blue Sea 2, she expressed regret and remorse. So they conducted a quick, one day reshoot to have her character killed off. Now there's a petition floating around that's asking Warner to finally release that ending and even Thomas Jane is promoting it.

I know this is a polarizing topic and don't care whether she deserved it or not but I don't see the harm in having a bloody deleted scene of all things released. There's absolutely no harm in doing this. None. It's not like they'll be scrubbing the theatrical ending from existence or anything. It will always be there. I just don't understand why it was never offered as a special feature on the dvd anyway.

I think of movies like 1408 and Butterfly Effect. Both of those (awesome) DVDs included alternate endings as a special feature and I preferred the alternate to the theatrical endings.
