What's a character that was meant to be taken seriously, but you just couldn't because of the costume / hair & make-up?

I finally watched A Few Good Men last month and, while the movie is actually fantastic and Tom Cruise delivers an unexpectedly nuanced performance, one thing that took me out of it was how dirty they did Kiefer Sutherland.

Look at this scene and tell me he doesn't look like an egg. Now, I can't tell what they could've done to make him look better, maybe he just wasn't the right fit for the role, having such a round face, small mouth and lack of chin definition, but I just couldn't take him seriously at all.
