Why does modern CGI look worse than 20 year old movies?

Im very sick of marvel/super hero films personally, but this isn’t something i have just noticed there.

The lighting always looks bright and vibrant now. The characters looks “perfect”. Im not saying the 1980s covered in sweat thing was good, but it seems like the opposite now where they are in a photoshoot all comfortable.

Compare something like the original Pirates of the Caribbean to many newer movies and you’ll see what i mean. All things considered the older film looks better imo and more realistic. I cant put my finger on it.

An example: A scene that 20 years ago may have been lit by fire on purpose for lighting, is now achieved with actual lighting and editing, maybe a machine that simulates flame flickers. Hell maybe they were doing that 20 years ago too. I cant tell why it seems more realistic in the older ones.
