Ok, so I finally watched Master & Commander and now what

I read in various comment sections that it's great, and I watched it and it's a masterpiece.

Two questions for you guys -

What makes it great, and Why didn't it get the recognition it deserved

A. Children as part of the crew made it insanely chilling (there are thousands of other reasons it was great) B. Editing and the camera work so 1990ies
