I'll start with Game of Death "starring" Bruce Lee. He was only in the last 15 - 20 minutes. Atleast we got a pretty cool fight with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar from the small amount he was in.

Both Scream and Hereditary did similar bait and switch moves with Drew Barrymore and Milly Shapiro which were less scummy and more to mess with your expectations. These are much more positive examples of it
