Hi, I'm Siarhej Siamjanau, game designer at Weappy, we're making a game about Hollywood. Proof: https://imgur.com/bTJVcWx

Our upcoming game Hollywood Animal attempts something that no one seems to have done in games before: portray the film industry in its true-to-life historical context. This is not the postcard version of Hollywood, where the sun is always shining bright between the palms, and the picture-perfect faces are always smiling. This game recreates Hollywood in detail, and it's a fickle monster with many faces. It can raise you up to dizzying heights, but it's more likely to devour you.

For some reason it's normal for economic strategy games to portray the film industry in a simple, muted, neutered form, rounding off all the sharp edges. The 2005 game The Movies was a source of inspiration for us, but its family-friendly approach limited its narrative potential. We believe the dark and ugly side is essential to complex dilemmas and interesting storytelling.

Hollywood Animal begins in 1929 and spans decades. The Great Depression, Prohibition, the mafia wars, World War II, the Hays Code, McCarthyism and the witch hunts, the collapse of the studio system, New Hollywood -- the game involves all this and more (please share your must-include moments from Hollywood history!). We're weaving the historical elements into the gameplay, so each new grand era and petty scandal offers new problems and opportunities.

We're glad to be here! We're be happy to answer your questions, listen to your advice, discuss our inspirations, or just talk movies!
