What movies are a must see, based on cinematography alone?
Hello, r/movies! First time posting here.
So I greatly appreciate cinematography and the over-all art of filmmaking. To this end, I've started compiling a list of films that are praised for their cinematography and recommended by people as being awesome in this area. I'm posting here to ask and/or start a discussion on what everyone believes should be on this list.
Question/Discussion: If you could only pick 5 films that someone must watch, based on cinematography, what would you choose?
Here are my five (in no particular order):
The Grand Budapest Hotel (my personal favorite so far)
No Country For Old Men
Jackie Chan's Police Story (from the early 80s)
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Seven Samurai
I'm hoping to grow my list a lot and I can certainly share it with everyone if you'd like. I'm sure my list of 5 will change as I continue to watch more films, though.
Anyway, what's your list?
