Any recommendations for Japanese animation?

As I was reading through a few threads on this subreddit, it dawned on me that, despite enjoying animation as a whole, and being a big fan of the works of people like Satoshi Kon and Hayao Miyazaki, my watchlist is still lacking sorely when it comes to Japanese animation movies. I'm sure there are some gems I am missing out there (like Akira, which has been highly recommended to me), so I was wondering if you guys could point me towards any other titles?
