The five stages of being a movie fan

I've scientifically discovered these steps which chronicle the way of the average movie fan to becoming a fully developed cinephile

1. Watches action movies and a few new blockbusters at the cinema each year

2. Raves about modern American directors like Nolan, Tarantino, or PTA

3. Critically acclaimed older American directors like Kubrick

4. Discovers European directors. Favorites include Fellini, Bergman, Tarkovsky, Bresson, Lang, ...

5. Only watches German silent movies from the 20s and calls your favorite director mainstream crap
