Let's talk about movies where nothing happens.

I got thinking about movies and stories where nothing much happens, but the mood and ambience carries the piece. A lot of people seem to dislike it, but I am a big fan of it. I enjoyed Lost in Translation and Echo Park although the latter got a lot of negativity. Especially when there is a lot of thought put into the visuals, I feel like a strong plot is not necessary.

My questions are:

-What are the movies where nothing happening works, and why? -What are the movies where it doesn't work, and why? -Do you think there is a real market for these types of movies?
