Why aren't there other Pirate movies anymore?

Hallo reddit movie fans!

If you talk about modern pirate movies, there's just one franchise that comes to one's mind: Pirates of the Caribbean of course. The first one(s) was pretty fun to watch. But the newer ones became totally fantasy now and too much over the top for my taste.

Since pirates were a real thing back then in the Caribbean, I really wanna see a big budget movie about them. Why are there none? I remember watching some as a kid in the 80s/90s.

They could teach us a bit about the real history. I'm thinking about something similar to Assassin's Creed: Black Flag. Of course this game isn't totally realistic, but it's very much based on real events. They can involve treasure hunting, their fight against British and Spanish merchants or navy. They can just show us how their adventurous life was.

What do you think or know about this?
