It’s an amazing experience to see classic movies on the big screen, especially if you’ve never seen them before. You can watch a movie the way it was meant to be seen.

I recently saw Creature from the Black Lagoon and it was so fun.

I have seen many of the classic universal monster movies, not all, but a lot, but I hadn’t seen Creature yet. When I heard that they’d be having a screening near me at 9:20pm, I thought “why not have my first time be on the big screen, the way it was meant to be watched”. I did not regret it, it was an experience and a half.

Everyone else in the theatre had most likely seen the movie before, but since I had not, and since I have never even heard a spoiler for the movie in my life, everything was completely new.

The movie combines the best elements of so many movies and I can tell that it inspired Jaws, and pretty much a whole genre of thrillers like it. It has the eerie parts of Dracula and the mummy, the production value of the invisible man (cool effects: underwater vs making somebody invisible), some shocks like the wolf man, the “love” from King Kong, mixed together with some intense action scenes.

It’s all in all a really great movie, and if you haven’t seen it (although it’s a classic), I REALLY recommend it, and if you can, SEE IT ON THE BIG SCREEN, you will not regret it.
