Movies you were excited to watch but then lost (kind of) interest due to bad reviews
The more bad reviews I read about Suspiria, the less interested I am in seeing it. Which totally sucks because this was the ONE movie I wanted to see but so many critics are calling it pretentious, overlong, boring and worst of all, NOT SCARY. Like how am I supposed to be excited to see Suspiria now when it's being called out as dull and lacking in frights?
I mean, Alonso Duralde, the Wrap critic, who's scared of his own shadow, said the movie wasn't scary.
I admit Guadagnino is a director I admire but I was bored sick with I Am Love, visually stunning, a wonderful use of John Adams, but too in love with its own design and it always confused me that he'd want to do Suspiria but now I wish David Gordon Green (who's coming out with Halloween, pray this doesn't flop with the critics as well) had directed it instead especially when he wanted to use Isabelle Huppert for Madame Blanc.
I guess I'm going to be focused on Halloween now. Still unsure if I'm going to bother with Suspiria. I'm not as young and beautiful as I once was so I value my time more.
