I think Terminator Salvation gets a lot of unnecessary hate.

I personally really like the movie, its set in a time period before the war with machines which were depicted in the previous 3 films (around 10-14 years).

Before humanity was crushed to the point of the original films future wars, Salvation showed the pockets of resistance which existed up until that point.

People complained about the weaponry being too primitive -> Well that was 10-14 years before they got the laser stuff shown in the first few films.

I think it serves as a good film in continuation from 1 - 3. I like it a lot more than Genisys (Although the first half was pretty good).

Salvation showed us that there was a "full on war" with man and machines before machines ultimately got the upper hand leading to the future wars depicted in 1-3 where humanity is reduced to underground camps and heavily depleted.

Im sorta bummed Salvation is being retconned in favor of Genisys and the new movie (I hope it is good, im looking forward to watching it).
