What movie did you dislike on first viewing, and so never saw again until many years later, and then on re-watch found you could appreciate it better?

Saw “The Talented Mr. Ripley” [1999] when it came out and couldn’t stand it (although it was the first time I saw Philip Seymour Hoffman and was so impressed, even in his small role).

Never watched it again until just last night, 20+ years later. Matt Damon is extraordinary. This time around I could sorta even stand moony-faced Gwyneth (even though her goop stuff makes her even more unbearable).

Still didn’t like the ending – mostly because it deviated from the book, which I think was more interesting – but overall I enjoyed it.
