(Phone Booth) 20 Years later, Phone Booth is still an effective thriller.

It's hard to believe it's been 20 years since Colin Farrell's Phone Booth was released. It's a tense, one-location thriller that taps into the fear of being alone in public and the helplessness of manipulation and self-sabotage. A slimy guy cheating on his girlfriend is forced to reveal himself for who he is while under the scope of a shooter. It's simple and effective. The film is underrated, in my opinion.

The film's real genius is that after the initial shock of the shooter and the threat of death at any moment, the fear that scares Farrell's character the most is bearing himself to the people he cares about. The fear of being exposed as a liar and a cheat trump the fear of death. It's clever and a lot of fun.
