The flashback scene in Barbarian is one of the most impressively shot scenes in any horror movie.

So it's about halfway through the movie where AJ(Justin Long) enters the basement and gets trapped that it suddenly hard cuts to a bright house on a sunny day. It's set in the 80s and a man walks out the house named Frank.

We follow him shopping and then follows a young woman on her way back home. He then poses as maintenance worker to unlock her window so that he can kidnap and rape her later. And then enters the basement where we hear a woman screaming.

I just fucking love the way this scene is filmed. The setting is a bright 80s suburbia feel but you can instantly tell from the way its shot that something is very sinister is taking place. Even with the bright and open setting Cregger somehow manages to shoot it a claustrophobic and eerie manner. It's honestly the best use of daylight horror since Midsommar. Hell I'd argue the scene gives the entirety of Midsommar a run for its money.
