Seems like the masses are getting a lot pickier in what films they are interested in

Currently Barbie and Oppenheimer are both smashing records. Oppenheimer dethroned John Wick 4 apparently in the R rated category this year, which is amazing for a 3 hour long historical dialogue heavy biopic.

With Indiana Jones, The Flash and Elemental flopping I think it's clear that it wasn't because of any specific downturn, it's because people weren't particularly interested in those films. Maybe the CGI laden trailers were a turn off. Or maybe people are clamoring for something original.

In the years before all these films would've done fairly well at the box office. Now it seems like people are picking and choosing a lot more.

I'm just hoping this will result in a lot more original content and R rated mid to high budget films.
