What are some movies that didn’t become popular due to marketing failures?

The first that comes to mind for me is John Carter. While not particularly worthy of critical acclaim IMO, it was an incredibly fun movie with fantastic effects that I feel could have set up a successful series. This movie failed to find success not only due to its rather dull title but also because the marketing for it was non-existent. My dad took me to see it because he had read the comics as a kid and was excited for it but otherwise I doubt I ever would have heard of it.
