Why is HOOK (1991) looked at so poorly in Spielbergs filmography?

Maybe it is just a generational thing. I grew loving it and still love it to this day. Dustin Hoffman and Robin Williams are great in it and the John Williams score alone is brilliant. But I know many that straight up hate it. Consider it one of his worst films. It almost sits in the same space as Temple of Doom which I love as well.
