“Mystery Men” deserves a place among the top ten comic book movies ever made

Watched it again Today since it’s free on YouTube. And it’s still as fast paced and hilarious as it was since I first saw it as a kid watching it on VHS.

From its gonzo humor, colorful characters, and one of a kind production design. It’s probably the best pre-2000 Superhero team up film, which that alone should be enough to put it in contention.

It’s a superhero film that checks boxes that now takes cinematic universes multiple films to accomplish. It manages to introduce and make you care about the characters without the humor and situations feeling forced.

There’s things in this movie that on paper you’d think wouldn’t work or would pull viewers out of it completely. But it’s a testament to its commitment of being bizarre and outlandish that continously makes it work in its favor.
