What are some amazing roles that were ruined by terrible actors?

Every once in a while, when engaging in movie discussion you hear about actors elevating terrible scripts and shoddy writing through good performances and direction, but what about the inverse? What are some well written characters that were let down by their casting? Roles and Characters that on the paper should have been great, but are just smothered by the actual performances.

To get the most blatant and extreme of these is Tommy Wiseau’s ‘Johnny’, from The Room, his performance took a 2/10 character and made it a -1000/10, a so bad it’s good case.

What are your contenders for the best film roles that were brought down by actors that weren’t up to the task?
