Watched Jet Li's "Hero" (2002) and I'm completely blown away. What a movie.

First off, this has to be one of the most gorgeously shot movies ever. Every single scene is pure visual poetry. Most of the movie is done with practical effects. When they show thousands of soldiers it was actually thousands of extras, no trickery. The movie felt massive because of it. It honestly was heads and shoulders above CGI Epics like Lord of the Rings in term of the sheer size you can feel, even though the movie was only 90 minutes long. It has to be one of the shortest epics ever but damn did it feel grand. And don't even get me started on the smart plot with a great twist and a strong morale or the amazing fight choreography. Everyone with even the smallest love for movies should watch this film.
