John Woo's "The Manhunt" is the "so bad, it's good" movie of the year....

Just saw this last night, and boy it was quite something.

The plot is completely nonsensical and goes from typical murder mystery, to a buddy-action movie, and sci-fi conspiracy. And the thing is, the murder mystery at the core of the movie doesn't even tie to the whole main conspiracy that well! The production looks cheap as fuck, with everything looking too bright and clean, and some iffy use of CGI and wire work. The music score is odd and out-of-place (light jazz + a high-octane action thriller = WTF). There's also instances where John Woo tries to pay homage and throw Easter eggs to his prior work, but they all seem ham-handed. And last but not least, the dialogue. Oh God, the dialogue. The dialogue is so clunky and awkward. Especially when they transition between Chinese/English/Japanese. It's so blatantly obvious that they transition from their actual voices in the native tongues to post-production dubbing in other languages, and the dubbing is so laughably bad. And they try to force some "bad-ass" English one liners, but it sound so cringy. It's all still somewhat entertainingly silly, and the action scene in the middle, where the two protagonists are forced to fight a group of assassins while handcuffed together, is pretty enjoyable.

All in all, it's not a good movie by any means, but it's a not a bad movie to watch and laugh at all the absurdity going on.
