Alien is a far better film than Aliens

Watched them both for the first time tonight.

Alien is atmospheric and suspenseful with characters you are invested in.

Aliens was hugely over the top with some hideous acting, albeit entertaining in its own way

I'm shocked to have seen that a lot of people prefer the second one, for reasons I'm somewhat confused about.

Aliens was entertaining but in terms of a great film I find it hard to find a reason why you wouldn't pick alien.

Should I bother with the next one's or do they get as ridiculous as I imagine?
