What are some of the most unsettling/unnerving/wild card characters in movies?

I was rewatching The Town and Jeremy Renner was such presence in that film. Every time he’s on screen he makes you nervous. The biggest one I grew up with is Joe Pesci in Goodfellas. The scene with Spider and the “How am I funny” made me so uncomfortable. What are other good agents of chaos? There others that just don’t work, but what are the memorable characters/actors?
