My 13-year-old niece and movies from the '70s and '80s

I got permission from my sister to let my 13 year old niece watch some older movies that included some harsh language and even some nudity, so we decided to watch Blues Brothers & Animal House, she laughed like crazy through Blues Brothers and liked the music, but said it was racist. She was embarrassed but seem to enjoy Animal House, but said it was sexist. I told her I couldn't actually disagree with her on either case but I did point out she seemed to enjoy them and she wouldn't admit to it. Did I just pick the wrong movies or is it her generation?
